Outside the Yankee Pedlar Inn in northern Connecticut, the sun is setting, but inside the century-old hotel a grandfather clock ticks away the graveyard shift. Above a dormant fireplace, the eyes of a mounted deer look out on the spacious lobby, almost comically resigned to its surroundings. A grand piano sits in the corner. Framed black-and-white portraits of deceased tenants and old newspaper articles (“Kennedy Murdered!”) hang on the walls. There’s a cozy forebodingness in the lobby’s silence and layout, as if the surrounding objects might simultaneously levitate and partake in a tenebrous dance. And moreover, in the center of the room, next to a sidetable crowded in Schlitz empties, there lies a body under a white sheet.
Down a nearby hallway, the approaching voice of a young man booms “Show yourself, spirit!” The covered body remains still under the light of a chandelier. Again, louder. “I said, show yourself spirit!” And this time, the body rises, lurching its arms forward and emitting a feminine “Woooo! Grooohhooo!” Except, rather than succumbing to terror, the man begins to laugh at his assailant, who has tripped and fallen over a pillow. As it turns out, we are observing two innkeepers in a drunken bout of freak-each-other-out. Of the nine or so crew members standing nearby, one yells “Cut,” as actress Sara Paxton proceeds to remove the bed sheet and rub her backside.

Glass Eye Pix and Dark Sky Films have released the first pair of photos from their co-production The Innkeepers, which reunites them with writer/director Ti West (pictured left) from The House of the Devil.
Set and filmed in Connecticut’s Yankee Pedlar Hotel, which is reputed to be haunted, the film stars The Last House on the Left’s Sara Paxton (both photos) and Pat Healy (first pic, left) as Claire and Luke, the last two clerks left working the place before it’s scheduled to be shut down after over 100 years in business. Before that happens, they’re anxious to prove that the place does indeed have restless spirits dwelling within its walls, and subsequent odd occurrences seem to prove that they’re right. The cast also includes Kelly McGillis (also in the two companies’ upcoming Stake Land), as a former actress who rents a specific room in the hotel, and George Riddle. Look for Fango’s first report from the Innkeepers shoot very soon!

Production has begun this week on writer/director Ti West’s (Cabin Fever 2, The House of the Devil) latest film The Inkeepers. It was also announced today that Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left) and Kelly McGillis (Top Gun) are set to star in the film which is being described as a ‘classic ghost story’.
THE INNKEEPERS is centered around the final two employees working in a haunted hotel before it goes out of business. After over one hundred years in business, The Yankee Pedlar Hotel is about to close its doors for good. The last remaining clerks, Claire (Sara Paxton), a twenty something that has come to terms with her lot in life, and Luke (Pat Healy), a computer-smart loner, are convinced that the hotel is haunted and are determined to prove it. As time ticks down to the final days of operation, mysterious guests check in including Leanne Rease-Jones (Kelly McGillis), a former TV actress turned psychic, and an old man insistent on staying in room 353. As several strange occurrences begin to add up, both Claire and Luke must make the crucial decision on what to believe and what not to believe…
The shoot will be taking place at The Yankee Pedlar Inn in Connecticut, a hotel long known for being haunted in real life.
The film will also star Pat Healy, Kelly McGillis and George Riddle among others.
The film, which blends the classic ghost story style with a solid modern twist is being produced by Derek Curl, Peter Phok, Ti West and Larry Fessenden by Dark Sky Films in partnership with Glass Eye Pix.

Katherine Waterston, Scott Eastwood (Invictus, Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left), Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place) and Christopher Denham are set to star in Enter Nowhere.
Jacke Heller is gearing up to direct in New York from a script by Shawn Christensen and Jason Dolan. According to THR, it’s “a story that is described as having shades of ‘Lost’ and which revolves around four strangers who find themselves stranded in a deserted, supernatural forest.”
Heller also likens the project to having a Twilight Zone vibe.
